There’s a lot of ground to cover in Western Australia and our work on the Kwinana smart freeway is as critical to the state's economy as the mining services and collaborative road maintenance we provide in the remote Pilbara mining region – where trademarks of our projects are collaboration, Aboriginal participation and community engagement.

In our VentureSmart partnership, we maintain electrical road assets from Broome to Esperance, and we’re pleased to be able to create new jobs and upskill local contractors as we work. Ventia’s people are often first on scene when wildlife is injured on the roads, so maintenance vehicles are fitted with wildlife rescue kits complete with blankets, heat packs, instructions, contact numbers and other items. It’s this sense of responsibility that keeps us coming back. 

Ventia is one of Australia’s largest providers of brownfield projects, maintenance, shutdowns, drilling, dewatering and accommodation services to the mining and minerals sector. We also design and build mission critical communication networks for the sector. We have more than 40 years’ experience in mining services and works with some of Australia’s largest resource companies.

We have a strong presence in the Defence sector, delivering Defence Base Services, Defence Maintenance & Support Services, and National Clothing Store Services. We also operate and maintain Australia’s largest private firefighting service to support the ADF. 

We proudly maintain 38 marine facilities and 1,500 marine and land-based navigation aids for Western Australia Department of Transport, a relationship we have had since 1995.  Recent innovations include the introduction of more durable and lighter navigation aids, the installation of light sensors on critical navigation aids to enable real-time reporting of outages, and the introduction of an underwater remote-operated vehicle that allows our team to conduct underwater inspections more safely. 

In our Court Security and Custodial Services contract, our control centre integrates with the Department’s Coordination Centre to provide 24-hour centralised oversight of all movements of persons in custody for outer metropolitan courts, all major regional courts and custodial transport throughout Western Australia.

In conjunction with our Delron subsidiary, we have more than 60 years' commercial cleaning experience, and service a number of universities, mine sites and public transport such as trains across WA.

As part of the Smartways Alliance, Ventia is helping improve efficiency on Perth’s Kwinana Freeway using smart technology, such as enhanced lane-use management and coordinated ramp signals. The improvements form part of a $2.3 billion government package of road and rail infrastructure works for Western Australia, which aim to reduce congestion and lead to safer and more efficient journeys. In another successful partnership, Ventia joined with Johnson Controls to form Venture Smart. Venture Smart handles planned and reactive maintenance for all Main Roads WA’s electrical assets across the state, including street lighting, traffic signals, CCTV, vehicle detection systems, fibre networks, Bluetooth travel time units, warning signals and more. The future of the resources sector is in fully integrated, operational and automated system enabling technologies. Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) and Caterpillar awarded our telecommunications business the design, configuration, deployment and installation contract for the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) wireless mesh project located at Fortescue Metals Group’s Solomon Mine in the Hamersley Ranges north of Tom Price, Western Australia. Read more here.
