Description

Delivering safe, reliable roads for Victoria .

The VRMC is responsible for managing arterial road maintenance across Victoria through a single, performance‑based contract model for each region. It brings together inspection and planning, hazard management, defect rectification, emergency response and minor capital works to support consistent network performance and safety outcomes.

Ventia is delivering these services for two regions, the Grampians and Eastern Metropolitan, supporting the safe and efficient movement of people and goods on key Victorian road corridors. Our approach reflects Ventia’s commitment to redefining service excellence by using advanced systems and data to inform decision making, championing sustainability and innovation, and maintaining a strong focus on community care.

Scope of work

Ventia’s scope under the VRMC includes:

• Routine maintenance of pavement and road furniture
• Network inspections
• Pothole repairs
• Emergency and hazard response and make-safe activities  

Maintenance program management

• Annual Maintenance Program (AMP) development  
• Delivery of planned pavement maintenance works such as resurfacing and rehabilitation
• Delivery of planned maintenance of roadside assets such as mowing, vegetation management and drainage maintenance  

Minor capital works  

• Minor renewals and capital improvement works integrated with network maintenance.

To support strong network performance and operational efficiency, Ventia’s digital approach for VRMC includes: 

• Linear asset Works Management Information System (WMIS) 
• Real-time job visibility and tracking, end‑to‑end electronic workflows and advanced analytics to support whole‑of‑life decision making  
• AI-enabled technology for hazard and defect identification, enabling early, accurate and cost-effective interventions.  

Sustainability and social outcomes  

Ventia is supporting the Victorian Government’s circular economy and social procurement objectives through:

• Use of innovative, sustainable pavement products
• Compliance with Local Jobs First, the Social Procurement Framework, Recycled First and Fair Jobs Code requirements
• Engagement with local communities and suppliers, including opportunities for local participation and social benefit suppliers
• A strong focus on improving road safety and reducing impacts on local communities.
