Description

Ventia is supporting client Lightsource bp with the delivery of grid connection assets including two high voltage substations for the landmark Kōwhai Park solar farm project.

The Kōwhai Park solar farm is adjacent to Christchurch Airport and will connect into Orion’s electricity distribution network as well as supporting the future electrification and decarbonisation goals of the airport.

The project is being delivered by Lightsource bp and its joint-venture partner, Contact Energy.

Kōwhai Park is expected to be one of New Zealand’s largest solar farms with around 300,000 solar panels and will be able to generate enough electricity for the equivalent demand of approximately 36,000 homes. It is also the first phase of Christchurch Airport’s renewable energy precinct.
