The South East Queensland Schools Project is a key initiative of the Department of Education (DoE) to provide public education facilities in the rapidly growing South East Queensland corridor.

Within this project, seven new schools were delivered through Aspire Schools, under Queensland's Public Private Partnership (PPP) framework. This includes six primary schools - BayView, Peregian Springs, Augusta, Woodlinks, Coomera Rivers and Brightwater, and one secondary school - Murrumba State Secondary College.

Ventia delivers management, hard and soft maintenance services to all seven schools. 

In addition to the maintenance and amenity requirements, the growth of the schools has seen the need for increased maintenance through facility upgrades and extensions of demountable and permanent buildings. 

The project deals directly with hard and soft services including washroom consumables, periodic deep cleaning of the schools and landscape and grounds maintenance. Operating a 24-hour helpdesk, the Ventia team fields calls from both the schools and the Department of Education, recording and managing day to day issues and rectifying any defects which may arise. 

Aspire has a strong and productive relationship with the Department of Education and under the PPP framework both organisations and our partners have acted cohesively and aligned across multiple fronts. 

Schools of the future

These Queensland 'schools of the future' have modern facilities and design features that provide a stimulating and safe environment for learning across any level.

The approach to the design provided a balance between aesthetics, functionality and value for money, while recognising local land form and environment. Each campus design incorporates sustainability strategies matched with solutions that deliver high aesthetics from the entry to the playing fields.

Ventia works closely with the Queensland Department of Education across asset management and maintenance of both the buildings and surrounding amenities and aesthetics such as gardens,and playgrounds.

A positive outcome that teaching staff have reported back is that Ventia's approach to looking after the schools means that they can concentrate on teaching rather than spending their time on maintenance issues, allowing more focus on teaching and the students.

A community focus

Driven by Ventia's commitment to making infrastructure work for communities we look beyond the school day, seeing the schools as a key focal point for their communities. 

The facilities of the schools Ventia services are utilised for a range of extra-curricular activities from sports lessons, to adult education, after school care and community consultation is a key feature of our approach.

Schools have also added additional works by the way of tennis courts, playgrounds and Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden programs.

These Queensland schools have state-of-the-art facilities and innovative design features that provide an encouraging and conducive environment for learning in green star rated buildings.
