Ventia is reducing carbon emissions on its Sydney Roads Asset Performance (SRAP) Contract with the addition of two new Tesla electric vehicles.

As part of our commitment to create a healthier planet, the Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles will drive energy efficiency and reduce operational emissions. 

The newly acquired electric vehicles consume 79% less power than a comparable petrol vehicle and 62% less power than a comparable hybrid vehicle.  

In addition, these vehicles will be charged from solar power at our Arndell Park depot in Sydney's west, making them operationally carbon neutral.

Ventia's Project Director on the SRAP Contract, Yasnna Blom, says this is just one example of Ventia making more sustainable choices across the Parklands network. 

Our client Transport for NSW has set high sustainability targets for its SRAP providers. It's early days but we are focused on delivering sustainable outcomes and building a positive legacy over the course of the contract term. 

The Tesla Model 3 also comes standard with onboard camera technology, and the SRAP Maintenance team are keen to explore how this can enhance its surveillance monitoring program and deliver better outcomes for road users.

Currently the team use standard diesel utilities specially fitted with cameras to undertake inspection runs. With the standard onboard camera technology already included for the Tesla, the vehicles can continuously monitor the network. The team will trial this over the coming months.

Group Sustainability Manager, Alexandra Monson says the addition of the new electric vehicles is aligned with Ventia's Sustainability Strategy.
