Every second counted as CEO Dean Banks was joined by his colleagues, CFO Mark Fleming and Group Executive Strategy and Corporate Affairs Em Hogan on a recent visit to our Aviation Firefighting team based at RAAF Base Edinburgh.

“The firefighting team, who currently provide one of the highest aviation emergency category responses in the country, put the technical and professional capacity they deploy every day to protect Defence proudly on display for our leaders,” said Jocelyn Graham, Project Director Fire Services.

Ventia Managing Director & Group CEO, Dean Banks, and Station Officer-Firefighter, John Kuys

Our firefighters hosted an authentic and exhilarating training drill experience including staging an ‘emergency lights and sirens response time trial’ down the airfield runway! The lighting speed capability display was designed to demonstrate why seconds count in aviation fire emergency response. They also put the leaders ‘on the firehose’, an exercise in strength and precision which also provided a real-life experience of the physical demands of firefighting in extreme heat.

This team is testament to the commitment and value of our 370-strong firefighting team who protect those that protect us.

"I was impressed with the display of our firefighting capability and was delighted to receive positive feedback from our Defence client representatives who joined us onsite”, says Dean.
