Ventia is pleased to have been awarded the contract for the replacement of Mercury Vapour street lights with energy efficient LED luminaires for the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council.

Located in the southern east region of Victoria, the Mornington Peninsula is a local government area situated to the south of the Melbourne CBD, with a population of approximately 155,000 people.

Part of the council's capital works program is to upgrade the lighting across the municipality, involving the replacement of 50, 80 and 125-watt standard Mercury Vapour street lights on local council roads with energy efficient LED luminaires.

With our focus on safety and health above all else, Ventia will be responsible for the safe disposal of the old LED luminaires and PE cells, as well as installing new PE cells as part of the scope of works.

More than 10,700 mercury vapour lights will be replaced with LED lights, which will require less energy and a have a longer life span than traditional lights, providing savings in both energy and ongoing maintenance for the council.

Using field mobility devices, the team will capture real-time reporting on each lamp replacement, providing council with accurate daily updates on the installation process.

The works commenced in February 2018 and are scheduled to be completed mid-2018.
