A reputation as a reliable, flexible, committed partner to Defence has seen us add another Defence Clothing Store to our remit - at Derwent Barracks in Hobart, Tasmania - bringing us to 31 stores which we manage.

Ventia proudly provide clothing and personal equipment services to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), applying expert knowledge to meet its unique functional needs. Our strong reputation has seen us grow and expand the number of stores managed across Australia, and an increased service offering.

Ventia's Defence Retail Services Regional Contract Manager for Victoria and Tasmania, Craig Patterson is managing the transition of the Hobart Clothing Store.

"As you can imagine, ADF clothing stores are not your average, run of the mill clothing store," he said.

We provide very specific combat and non-combat clothing, equipment and accessories for ADF members across the Navy, Army and Air Force. Our unique offering also includes bespoke tailoring services, manufacturing of name tags and identity tags, court mounting of medals, miniatures and ribbon bars, and provision of highly specialised equipment for operational requirements and training sessions.

"Our goal is to increase the scope of services and enhance the customer experience for Defence Service personnel not only in Hobart but throughout Tasmania," Craig says. "We're already looking at ways to provide this same support to members based at other Tasmanian Defence sites including Launceston, Devonport and Burnie."

Until now, ADF members in Hobart and regional Tasmania have had limited access to obtain uniforms and associated accoutrements, but now under the Ventia banner the Hobart Clothing Store will operate full time Monday to Friday, and also include a later evening service on certain days to cater for Reserve members attending Units Parade nights.

Importantly, Tasmanian-based ADF members will now also have access to on-site tailoring and a mobile delivery service.

"We take our role in supporting the ADF in this way extremely seriously," Craig said.

"Obviously it is imperative that performance, comfort and quality of everything we provide is of the highest quality,' he said.

Our partnership with the ADF over many years means we understand the demanding and unique conditions this clothing and equipment must perform in, and we are constantly looking to improve our service and respond rapidly to changing operational needs.

The Hobart Clothing Store was officially opened in early August by the Director General Supply Chain Branch Air Commodore Angie Castner AM and Colonel David Hughes, Commander JLU(V).
